How a Frozen Tree Stand, a Grizzly, and a God Idea Turned Into a TV Show

Some shows are birthed in sleek studios and marketing meetings.
The Counter was birthed in a freezing Canadian tree stand that smelled like death, with a grizzly bear circling below and no cell service in sight.

I was there.

How It Started: Manitoba, Bears, and a Download From Heaven

Every year, Troy Brewer hosts this wild men’s trip in Manitoba, Canada—bear hunting, fishing, and getting wrecked by Jesus in the middle of nowhere. No bars on your phone, no “quick run to Starbucks,” just trees, predators, and your thoughts.

That particular year, everything about the hunt was hard. Long hours in the stand. Cold. Silent woods. Zero action. We’re talking “about 8,000 hours” on watch.

Troy decided to fast that day—no snacks, just prayer, journaling, and the kind of out-loud conversations with God you only have when you’re either desperate or alone long enough to stop pretending you’re okay.

No bear for Troy. But he got something way better.

Up in that stand, Troy gets this download from the Lord:

A show.
A roundtable.
A prophetic powerhouse that would:

  • Expose deception

  • Decode what’s really going on behind the headlines

  • Anchor people in the Kingdom when everything feels like it’s coming off the rails

  • And do it in a way that helps fund the rescue of kids out of trafficking

Not a “safe” Christian talk show.
A counter-punch to the darkness.

He called it: The Counter.

Same trip, by the way, we got to lead the entire hunting lodge family to Jesus. One of the brothers who ran the lodge was in fourth-stage cancer—skin and bones. We prayed, he felt fire and pins-and-needles all down his spine, the family gave their lives to Jesus… and later he’s completely healed, gained weight, and sending us Jesus reels on Instagram.

Also, in true Jesus fashion, I was the only guy to actually get a bear—last night, last light, last possible moment. You can make of that what you want.

That’s the atmosphere this show came out of:
Deliverance, miracles, wild faith, and a stubborn refusal to back down from darkness.

Building the Show: Not Churchy. 100% Kingdom.

Fast-forward. Troy calls me and the guys and says:

“I got this idea. I want to do a show that talks about all the stuff the church is too scared to touch—and use it to drive people to ODX so we can rescue kids. Y’all in?”

We all said the same thing:
Yes, we’re in. But Jesus gave this to you. You lead it. Let’s make it about rescuing kids.

So at the beginning of the year, we got in a room for two full days and hit “record.”

The lineup is stacked:

  • Troy Brewer – Child-rescuing, number-watching, prophetic wild man who won’t sit out the last days.

  • Alan DiDio – Bishop who can go from Revelation to geopolitics in a single breath, breaking down portals and open doors.

  • Joseph Z – Prophetic broadcaster who lives in that space where current events and the prophetic word collide.

  • Tony Merkel – Host of The Confessionals, the guy everyone calls when something weird steps into their living room and won’t leave.

  • Me, Darren Stott – Pacific Northwest pastor, joy guy, and unapologetic “you are a walking portal of heaven” preacher.

  • Bryan Schwartz – Former NFL player turned kingdom coach, talking authority, mindset, and what it looks like to stand when the whole world is shaking.

We didn’t sit around doing polite church panel talk.

We talked portals, angels, demons, Nephilim, bloodlines, CERN, UFOs, last days, witchcraft, occult practices, rapture, spiritual authority—all of it—through the lens of King Jesus.

It’s not “Christian entertainment.”
It’s kingdom artillery.

What The Counter Is Really About

Here’s the heart of the show:

“The Counter: where we decode the lies of modern-day culture using biblical truths, divine revelation, and prophetic insight.”

Every episode, we’re doing at least three things:

  1. Exposing the enemy’s playbook

    • How tech, government, media, and even some spiritual movements are opening doors they don’t understand.

    • Why hell is obsessed with portals, frequencies, trauma, and blood.

  2. Training believers to stay solid when things get weird

    • Jesus promised we’d see frightful things in the last days.

    • The point is not to panic—it’s to be so rooted in Jesus that when everyone else freaks out, you become the one sane voice in the room.

  3. Reminding you: YOU are a portal

    • You are anointed.

    • You are a gate where heaven invades earth.

    • When you anoint your house, your life, your family—you’re literally marking them as access points for the Kingdom of God.

We talk about CERN and super colliders? Absolutely.
We talk about yoga, chakras, counterfeit energy systems, and all the “light and vibration” language? 100%.
But we don’t stop at “Isn’t that weird?” We land here every time:

“You don’t need occult hacks to open something.
Jesus already lives in you.
The Kingdom flows through you.”

We’re not here to glorify the dark.
We’re here to expose it—and then elevate Jesus over it.

The Mission: Content That Funds Rescue

This is the part that makes me the most excited:

The Counter isn’t just about information; it’s about rescue.

ODX.TV is Troy Brewer’s media platform where prophetic content and wild kingdom shows actually help fund the work of rescuing kids out of trafficking, building homes, feeding, clothing, and caring for them.

So every time you:

  • Watch

  • Share

  • Subscribe

…you’re not just consuming content—you’re helping pull kids out of hell.

Media becomes a weapon.
Your subscription becomes a seed into rescue.

Who This Show Is For

Let’s be honest: this isn’t for everybody.

The Counter is for you if:

  • You love Jesus and you’re not afraid of weird.

  • You’re tired of being told, “Don’t worry about all that, just stick to the basics,” while the world is literally opening portals and rewriting reality.

  • You’re done with sanitized, plastic-feeling Christian TV that never touches what you’re actually thinking about at 2 a.m.

  • You want to understand portals, demons, Nephilim, AI, psyops, and last-days deception without losing your mind or your theology.

  • You want your streaming habits to actually do something for real children in real danger.

If you’re ready to be equipped—not just entertained—to stand steady when it gets dark and to carry the presence of Jesus into the middle of the crazy…

Then The Counter is your show.

THE PODCAST SHOW HITS THE ROAD

The LA Sessions.png

On October 12th, we are embarking on a podcast tour from Seattle to Hollywood, California.

For two days, we will be conducting 10 video/audio podcast conversations with a diverse group of cultural influencers.

Our vision is to answer the question, "What is Jesus doing in in one of the world's most influential cities?"

Our list of guests include actors, comedians, screenplay writers, music producers, television producers, models, and church planters.

On our way to LA, we will be stopping by Bethel Church, in Redding, California, and conducting three podcast conversations with revivalists and cultural influencers. It’s going to be amazing capturing the stories of these modern-day reformers.

THE HISTORY OF THE PODCAST

We have been hosting the Supernaturalist Podcast Show since 2015. The purpose of the show is to connect, equip, and promote emerging supernaturalists on a global level.

The show consists of Darren Stott and Charlie Shamp sitting down with movers and shakers and conducting long-form, unscripted conversations. The average podcast is 60 minutes, and the most extended episode is #100 with Bobby Conner and runs just shy of three hours.

IN 2019, THE SHOW HIT THE ROAD

In 2019 we took the show from audio to video, investing a significant amount of money into quality and portable equipment so that the show could easily travel and capture content from supernaturalists all over the World.

  • On June 24th, we captured an interview with Pastor Surprise in South Africa.

  • On September 1st, we took all of our equipment to Moravian Falls where we recorded an amazing conversation with Bonnie Jones.

  • On September 26th we traveled to Nashville where we recorded podcast conversations with Lee and Cindi Whitman, Alex Parkinson, and Corina Toncz-Pataki.
